Learn how to do the One-handed Texas Star yo-yo trick with this video and written description.

This trick is pretty easy to perform, and it looks great. You can practice with a dead yo-yo until you learn it, and then try it with a spinning yo-yo.

1. Throw a long sleeper.

2. While the yoyo is sleeping, reach down with the thumb of your yoyo hand and lift up the string.

3. Next, reach down with the ring finger of your yoyo hand and lift up the string. (The string should still also be across your thumb, but now your thumb is below your middle and ring fingers.)

4. Next, reach down with your pointer finger and lift up the string again. You’ll still have the string on all the previous fingers too.

5. Now, reach down once more, this time with your pinky finger, and lift up the string again. It will still look kind of messy, but you’re almost there.

6. Finally, reach down with the middle finger of your yoyo hand and lift up the string. If you did it correctly, you will see a one-handed star. Your middle finger should make the top part of the star. Your pointer and ring fingers should make the two side parts of the star. And your thumb and pinky should make the two bottom parts of the star.

7. When you’re learning the trick, it helps to remember the order in your head. Just say to yourself, “Thumb, ring, pointer, pinky, middle.” Once you memorize the order, it’s a piece of cake!
