This is one of my favorites. This yo is the greatest pocket yo of all time. I think it rules, it is a great looper and a great yo for string tricks and most of all it is a smooth as anything. I would not ever get rid of this yo. I can do advance tricks with it no problem, hardly any maintenance, which makes it extra special, so it is a great yo. I would rate this as one of the best deals you would get so buy one now!!!

The GatorJam is based on the Hurricane, except it’s not quite as heavy, has a slightly wider gap and has the angles softened up to accomodate for string play. It’s sometimes called a slimline butterfly shape, which can be a little misleading because the only way it resembles a butterfly is that the edges are the tiniest bit tapered to allow the string to catch. Otherwise it’s a very slim shape, with the side pogs bulging out a tiny bit like an imperial. I can’t figure out if it’s rim weighted or center weighted; the weight seems very evenly distributed. These kinds of middle-of-the-road features make the GatorJam a fabulous all-around yo-yo. Because it is very responsive (as responsive as any ball bearing yo out there) and has a slim gap, it’s great for looping. And because it has good sleep times, and a modified shape, it is quite good on string tricks as well. I’d describe the play as being very smooth and balanced - this again is because of the weight distribution - it never wobbles or anything. The GatorJam wouldn’t be your first choice if you’re looking for a pure string trick yo-yo, but if you want a single yo-yo that can do a bit of everything, it’s a great choice. I’d consider it a viable alternative to the Turbo Bumble Bee.

I like this yo-yo. It’s a good all-around player. The gap is adjustable, but doesn’t have much of a range. Sleep times are comparable to a TBB GT and loops are crisp. If you want more response just Permalube it. Although the gap doesn’t adjust much, it is still very effective. Open it up and the Gator will take layers and mutations in stride. It is light and therefore seems to occasionally get caught up in complex tricks. I would recommend this to anyone, but it IS overpriced.
