At first I was disappointed with the finish and play of this yoyo. Then I figured why whine, heck, I paid less than five bucks for it. Still, the play was a little rough. The string felt like it was dragging as the yoyo went up and down. Then after about hour, it suddenly broke in and the playability increased. The roadster is a super looper, just a pleasure to throw, retrieve and send back out again. A natural sort of feel. It’s larger than other yoyos, and the shape is unique, fitting well in your hand. However, it’s narrow like the ProYo II. It’s a one piece yo, which of course means it doesn’t screw apart. If your a string slinger that tosses up a lot of knots, then you will need to improve your skill before using this yo. String tricks are difficult with this yo. The large size means you have to keep the gap and string lined up correctly, or your spin decreases rapidly. Hey, that’s why we practice and working with this yo will definitely improve your technique. I consider this the right yoyo, with the right feel, at the right price. Experience a hi performance yoyo that was developed in the 1920’s. Yes indeed, wood is good.

I was pretty disappointed at the way this yoyo looked and felt in my hand when I first picked it up. It looks sort of like Playmaxx never bothered to finish sanding the yoyo, or bothered to put some kind of natural (or colored) finish on the wood. But once you get past that problem, I think the yoyo is great. It’s the only modified shape (like a Pro Yo or a Technic) wooden yoyo out there that I’ve ever seen, instead of an Imperial shape (like an old Duncan plastic or wooden model). That makes it a good looper, and also a good sleeper. Best of all, the Roadster is not expensive, so you can easily afford to pick up two of them and practice two-handed yoing.

I think the majority of the people that order this yoyo are going to be a bit disappointed in the appearance of it, but the one thing you have to think about is the price you’re paying for it. My goodness, for $5 dollars, you’re getting one heck of a deal. The size and the weight of it is going to feel different in your hand, probably like no other yoyo you may own. But once you start using it, and it gets broken in a bit…you’re not going to be sorry you purchased it. In diameter, it is 2 1/2″… with a 1/8″ string gap , which is perfect for this fine crafted “masterpiece”. I could tell by the picture when I first saw it, I could either leave it “as is”… or….I could work on the appearance just a tad and change the looks to make it more to my liking, which I have done. Once it gets played with awhile, the smoother it becomes. The first thing I noticed about mine was, how smooth it was in a sleeper. My personal preference is just a tad bit heavier, in a yo, but it doesn’t take long to adapt to the weight of this one, and the fact it’s just a slight bit larger doesn’t make that much difference either, because it plays so well. I think everyone that has used one will agree it is a fine looper. Due to the “lightness” of it, in order for me to get more loops, I had to shorten my string a bit. The balance of the Roadster makes string tricks work rather well, providing you’re not going to be doing something that is going to take 20 seconds to complete. The price is right, the yoyo is crafted well, it plays good, feels nice , but it does look like…it needs some work from you to make the appearance more appealing.
