I picked up a Spintastics Manta Ray at Yoyoplay when they first came out, and I still love this yoyo. If you like wooden axles, this is a great yoyo. It’s lighter weight than the ball-bearing Tigershark, although the butterfly design looks and feels almost identical. It sleeps very well for a wooden axle yoyo, and is very smooth on string tricks. I found that it also excels at Reach for the Moon. I can do as many Reach for the Moons with the Manta Ray as I can with my Viper! And the best part about this yoyo is that it’s only $6.50 at Y4L!

This is my first experience with a Spintastics yo-yo. I must say that my first impression of this yo-yo upon sight was disbelief. It’s look is not that of exhorbitance, but as I’ve said in the past looks aren’t everything. This yo-yo has it where it counts. It’s accentuated with a balanced spin, exceptional responce thanks to the wood axle, and durability for a very reasonable price. So don’t be fooled about how this yo-yo looks because it does perform. The only problem I experienced was a loose bolt ( under side-cap) which was easily fixed by popping out the end cap and putting a piece of tape over the bolt. Also, as with any yo-yo with a wooden axle, a little wax doesn’t hurt. Try one, you won’t be dissapointed and even if you are it won’t be a costly mistake.
